SANFROSSA MANYINDA writes

A LUSAKA woman has been divorced over text messages from her boyfriend who was also claiming her child as his.

“Yes, I own a SIM card with 38 love messages from my boyfriend,” the 26 year old housewife of Kaunda Square stage 1 admitted before the Chelstone Local Court in Lusaka.

This is in a case where Spider Zulu 33 sued his wife of eight years Njavwa Namukoko, for  divorce on allegations that she was unfaithful.

Zulu told Senior Court magistrate Charity Milambo that problems started in 2013 when he was employed by government as a teacher and transferred to Solwezi.

He said that Namukoko did not like Solwezi and decided to rent herself an apartment in Kitwe.

He said that his wife would visit him in Solwezi while he did not know that she was pregnant for her boyfriend.

“On Christmas Day last year, my wife came home drunk with her boyfriend who also slept with her cousin. And on New Year’s Eve, she left Avondale where we had gone and followed her boyfriend in  Chainda compound who claimed to have been sleeping with her for four years,” he said.

He said that her boyfriend also claimed paternity of their second child and had he sent him a message demanding to get his child.

Zulu also produced love messages that his wife and her boyfriend exchanged before the court stressing that he could no longer keep such a person as a wife.

But Namukoko who had few words in defense alleged that Zulu was not supportive, a situation she said prompted her to withdraw K700 from his account without his consent.

She explained that this was the main reason he threw her out of the matrimonial house. But the court dismissed the matter on grounds that there was no marriage between the two as dowry was not paid
