Nkana clinch lucrative Umbro deal

ZAMBIAN Super League champions Nkana have clinched a three-year deal with Umbro South Africa for the supply of high-performance competition, training, and off-field apparel, footwear and equipment.

Umbro South Africa’s David Ricketts said the company was delighted to welcome Nkana Football Club to the Umbro brand stable and are excited to see them in the famous double diamond.“Umbro is incredibly passionate about African football and partnering with Nkana F.C. signifies our commitment to the growth and development of Zambian football. They are a club with a tremendous history that is central to the Zambian football story and we are ecstatic to be a part of Nkana’s next chapter,” said Rickets.Umbro who sponsor more than 120 clubs including teams, such as Everton, West Ham United, FC Schalke 04, Werder Bremen will be the official technical partner of Nkana F.C’s playing squads, supplying high-performance competition, training, and off-field apparel.Branded apparel, equipment and luggage will be provided to technical and management staff; with a supporter’s range available for fans to buy.Meanwhile, Nkana Football Club president Joseph Silwamba said they were looking forward to a wonderful three-year partnership with the South African kit supplier.“Nkana Football Club is glad to partner with Umbro as the brand is a big name in sportswear and obviously our players and fans share this view. We look forward to a wonderful three-year partnership,”Formed in 1935, Nkana Football Club holds prestige as one of Zambia’s oldest and most successful football clubs with a football tradition spanning 85 years.

The lauded club has gone on to achieve monumental success, most notably 13 Zambia Super League titles, 11 Zambia Charity Shield titles, seven Zambian Challenge Cups; and are the only Zambian team to ever reach the finals of the African Cup of Champions, now known as CAF Champions League.
