CHARLES MUSONDA writes A GIRL accused of stealing a baby has again failed to take plea because her guardians have not yet been traced since her arrest in February this year. When the case came up before Lusaka Magistrate Albert Mwaba on Tuesday, the court heard that the sixteen year old suspect has told the Department of Social Welfare that she was staying with her male employer in Chongwe and that the same man had sent her to steal the baby. Particulars of offence are that the accused person on February 12, 2019, stole a five-month old baby in Lusaka and has been in custody since then. Mr. Mwaba then ordered that the girl must be removed from custody so that she leads Zambia Correctional Services officers to her guardians.
He then remanded the girl in custody until April 23, 2019 when the matter comes up again for possible plea.
