PROSPERO and the Ministry of Tourism & Arts have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pave the way for the successful development of Collaborative Management Partnerships (CMPs) and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in tourism and conservation.According to a statement issued in Lusaka, the MOU implementation will bring private finance and specialist management to publicly owned natural and heritage assets. This will reduce pressure on public expenditure, improve conservation, build tourism assets, increase tourism revenues, and create a significant number of jobs and livelihood opportunities in the tourism sector.Prospero has a solid track record of working in the tourism sector including supporting the development and launch of the Destination Livingstone Initiative, supporting Zambian entrepreneurs to enter the tourism industry and diversify tourism products, improving standards within the safari guide and meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industries, enhancing sustainable economic linkages between tourism clusters and surrounding rural communities, and providing a large number of grants to help sustain tourism and conservation sector jobs through the COVID-19 crisis.

CMPs and PPPs within the conservation and tourism sectors are an incredibly effective way to leverage private finance and management expertise to increase the quality, sustainability, and inclusive economic value of Zambian natural and heritage assets.
