Minister of Gender, Elizabeth Phiri

LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes

MY APPEAL to the law enforcers is that they should be quick to arrest the source of these porn videos that go viral on social media because they are corrupting the morals of our children, Minister of Gender Elizabeth Phiri has advised.

Ms Phiri said that Zambia was a Christian nation and such videos were not good for the new generation and the body of Christ.

In an interview with the Sun, Ms Phiri said she was saddened by a video that had gone viral on social media of a woman believed to be a wife of a clergyman and her unidentified boyfriend filming themselves while having sexual intercourse.

Ms Phiri said urged the law enforces to get to root of the video and arrest the culprits because it was against the norms of the country to expose such videos.

“The woman is calling herself the pastor’s wife. How is the husband, church and family members feeling right now. This is immorality she does not qualify to be the pastor’s wife as the Minister of Gender I don’t support such acts.

“A woman’s body should be respected and not exposed anyhow even if you are married it’s not right for you to be getting pictures of yourself naked and sharing naked videos with your husband because he already knows your body,” she said.

Ms Phiri advised   women to avoid being duped by unscrupulous people to submit naked videos of themselves so that they can be paid money and in return the same videos are used to blackmail them.

Ms Phiri said that it was sad that if the women did not have the money they were threatened that their videos would go viral.

She said people should also stop the habit of filming themselves to avoid sending the videos to the wrong people by mistake because it was not right.

“I am appealing to our women to dignify their bodies. It’s out of self-respect that people will respect you. Why should you allow people to film you or filming yourselves unless if it was done by somebody without your knowledge. It is a very unfortunate incident,” she said.
