NOEL IYOMBWA writes

A 39 year old Police reserve at Kabangwe police post has been reported as missing by his family after he went to pick a client in his car which operates as a taxi.

Nathan Mhango who operates a taxi allegedly went missing on Monday after unknown person called him to pick him.

A family member Osborn Nyirenda has told the Sun that Mhango has not returned home and his phone has been off but that on Thursday his vehicle was found in Kabwe abandoned.

He said that two days after missing, his wife reported the matter to the police.

Mr Nyirenda said that Mhango did not have a specific area of operating but only relied on clients that called him.

“He operates a taxi and at the same time he is a police reserve. According to the information we got, someone called him so he went to pick that person and from that time he has not returned home and his phone is off.

“Yesterday his vehicle was found abandoned in Kabwe in the bush by unknown people and the matter reported to the police,“ he said.

Zambia police spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the development in a phone interview.

She said that the matter was reported at Ngwerere Police station on May 14 by Joyce Phiri wife of Mr. Mhango.

“The matter of missing person was reported at Ngwerere Police Station on May 14 at around 15:20 hours by Joyce Phiri of Kingstone area, Zani Muone.

“She reported that her husband Nathan Muhango aged 39 of the same area and a Police Reservist went missing on May 12 2020. He is a reservist Number 18377 at Ngwerere Police Station and also operates as a taxi driver is also nowhere to be seen and all his mobile cell phones are switched off.

“A message of missing person has since been circulated to all stations. Inquiry file opened, “she said.
