ACQUIRING a National Registration Card (NRC) should not only be seen as tool for use in the 2021 general elections, the UPND in Livingstone has said.District Youth Chairperson for Politics and Security, Philip Musela, said that an NRC was an important document, which has many uses including when seeking employment. Therefore, Mr Musela said, the mobile issuance of NRCs which commenced in Livingstone yesterday was an important undertaking to the young. In an interview with the Daily Nation in Livingstone, he encouraged school leavers and all those that had attained 16 years to take advantage of the exercise.Mr Musela appealed to the youth in the far flung areas to remain calm because the officers engaged in the exercise would be visiting such areas.“I would like to encourage the young people who do not have NRCs to take advantage of the mobile registration exercise which has commenced in Livingstone.“Yes, it might be used as a decider of their future in 2021 but it is an important document that gives anyone an advantage when seeking for employment,” Mr Musela said.He said that it was against that background that he wanted more than 80 per cent of those that had attained 16 years to acquire the constitutional document.
The UPND Youth Chairperson was optimistic that the 40 days given for the exercise were enough capture the expected target.
