MUYANI SHINJABALE Writes

CHIFUBU Residents in Ndola have been urged to guard jealously water facilities on the Kafubu water and Sanitation Company installations.

Thieves in the vast township had been stealing facilities from manholes, which the water utility firms had put up.

Additionally, thieves have been breaking into houses, stealing household goods and water installations.

Recently, prowlers had been pouncing the low-density Mitengo residential area, which is separated from Chifubu by a stream

Chifubu ward councillor, Friday Sikazwe, indicated that thieves had stolen manhole lids last week in the area belonging to the water utility company.

In an interview, Mr Sikazwe said eight lids had so far been recovered, warning that those involved in the vice that the law would soon catch up with them.

The Chifubu ward councillor expressed concern over the high levels of crime and vandalism in the area, stating that thieves were on a rampage.

He therefore implored the residents to be vigilant as well as guard the properties of the water utility company jealously as they would be the ones to lose out.

He added that the residents of Chifubu were spending sleepless nights due to daily house breaking by criminals.

Mr Sikazwe indicated that thieves had also started breaking into people’s homes targeting to steal toilet cisterns.

He said in just one week, thieves had managed to break into over five houses where they stole toilet cisterns.

He therefore, called on the residents with information behind theft to report the matter to the police.
