TWO Non-Governmental Organisations in Ndola’s Pamozdi ward have installed five hand pumps in three townships to improve water supply in the area.
Ward Councillor Mannase Siwila said the two NGOs are Seeds of Hope and Love Water who installed the hand pumps at a cost of over K5000 each.
“During the first phase we had two water pumps installed at public places which are Kanyanji Police Post and Pamodzi Santhyia Sai Clinic,” he said.
He added that the first phase of the installation of hand pumps has been done in three areas which include Pamodzi habitat area, Kanyanji and Pamodzi overspill townships.
He further said that the second phase will be done in Misundu and Maria Chimona areas, adding that the two areas are among the townships which have water challenges.
The councillor thanked the two organizations for facilitating government efforts by installing water to the community.
“I urge the general members in the community to take good care of the installed hands pumps,” he said.
And Tobby Bwalya a resident of Pamozdi over spill has expressed happiness on the installation of a hand pump in his area. “We used to draw water from wells now we can easily fetch clean water,” he said. And Prisca Nakazwe another resident thanked the two organizations for assisting the community with clean and safe drinking water.
