POLICE in Choma have launched a manhunt for a man identified as Busiku Chimbwene aged 21 of Kayuma Village, Chief Siachitema for allegedly kicking to death his 27 year old friend of the same village over a torch.

Police public relations officer, Esther Katongo who confirmed the incident identified the victim as Joshua Simasikwe who was kicked to death by his friend after denying him a tourch.

Ms Katongo said the murder case was reported to the Police in Choma by Martin Kabenya aged 47, the uncle of the victim.

She said according the uncle, on Friday August 14 at about 22:00 hours, the suspect went to the victim’s house and attempted to get the victim’s torch using force and against the will of the owner.

She added that after the victim denied the suspect access to the torch, he kicked him in the abdomen after which he became unwell.

She said the victim later died from home the following day on Saturday 15 August at 09:00 hours.

Ms Katongo said the body of victim was deposited in Choma General Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

She said a manhunt had been launched for the suspect who is on the run.
