A 32-years-old man who is alleged to have ruthlessly assaulted his 7 years old son for allowing Cows to stray in the fields has been arraigned before the Choma Fast Track Court for Gender Based violence to exculpate himself from the charge.
In this matter, Stanley Hantoombwe appeared before Court charged with Assault on a Child contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that Hantoombwe assaulted his son, a child below the age of sixteen.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred on December 14, 2020 when the boy failed to secure the animals that strayed into the fields.
It is further alleged that the father was infuriated by the boy’s negligent act and decided to whip him with the rope used to tie Cows on Carts.
When he was called to take plea by Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the accused person vehemently denied the charge read to him compelling the Court to record a plea of not guilty. The matter will come up on January 13, for trial. Hantoombwe’s police bond was extended
