GOVERNMENT has approved a 158-km road network rehabilitation project in Lufwanyama constituency on the Copperbelt, area Member of Parliament (MP), Leonard Fungulwehas said.
Mr Fungulwe said that the feeder roads in his constituency would be rehabilitated as the contractor would soon move on site to commerce with the works.
The MP was speaking in an interview with the Sun Newspaper at the weekend.
Mr Fungulwe explained that Funda-fungulwe road would have 48 kilometres repaired while the Mukutuma- Lumpuma would have a 110-km stretch rehabilitated.
He stated that he would continue working hard to ensure that his constituency continued developing adding that as MP, it was his task to engage and lobby Government for development.
“Once the two feeder roads are worked on, it will be come easy for pregnant women to move without facing any challenges and our farmers will also benefit from the good roads by transporting their produce without facing difficulties,” he said.
Mr Fungulwe hailed Government for responding to the request to have the feeder roads repaired as Lufwanyama was predominantly as agricultural district.
He also appealed to the local authority in Lufwanyama and the Copperbelt leadership to see to it that the contractor does a good job.
“This road project is also going to create jobs for the youths in our community, as they will earn something to sustain themselves as well as develop their skills,” Mr Fungulwe said
