LUSAKA lawyer, Nathaniel Inambao and a legal assistant Mubanga Chibonga have pleaded not guilty to one count of forgery.
Inambao and Chibonga denied the charge before Lusaka Principal Resident Magistrate David Simusamba today.
Inambao, a former Commissioner of Lands, was one of the lawyers that represented UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and others when they were charged for treason and other offences in 2017.
Particulars of offence in the first count are that between January 26, 2018 and June 30, 2018 in Lusaka, with intent to defraud or deceive, the two jointly and whilst acting together allegedly forged a Will by purporting to show that it was genuinely issued and signed by Donald Chimfwembe when in fact not.
In the second count, Chibonga denied the charge of allegedly uttering a false document.
Particulars of offence are that between the same dates, in Lusaka, Chibonga jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown, allegedly knowingly and fraudulently uttered the same forged Will for Donald Chimfwembe to Mutale Chimfwembe.
The court has since set April 10 and 11, 2019 as dates for commencement of trial and extended the two accused persons’ police bond.
