THE Football Association of Zambia has disclosed ambitious plans to boost the fitness levels of the national teams ahead of their international engagements starting with the newly established Under 15 squad.At a media briefing yesterday, FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala said several friendly matches had been scheduled aimed at strengthening the teams ahead of different competitionscoming up.Meanwhile, the Under 15 national team is expected to leave this Saturday 19 September 2020 for Europe to participate in the 8-Nation Vlatko Markovic Croatia Invitational tournament.Zambia will be only Africa team participating in the invitational tournament.Under 15 head coach Chisi Mbewe drew up the final 23-man squad after having screened 500 players.Zambia has been placed in Group B alongside North Macedonia, Bosnia& Herzegovina and Romania. Group A has hosts Croatia, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Qatar.The Croatia invitation is part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between FAZ and the Croatia Football Association.Soccer fans have been called upon to lend their support to the Under 15 teams so that they reach the finals of the competition.Kashala said that the senior national men’s team will play South Africa and Kenya among others in preparing for the CHAN and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, respectively.
He also confirmed that the Women’s national team will play Chile as they prepare for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic games.
