Covid-19 compliance levels cheer petroleum transporters

TANKER drivers have recorded 100 percent compliance in regards to the prevention of spreading or contracting the Covid-19 virus, says the Petroleum Transporters Association of Zambia.

The association has also disclosed that the petroleum transportation sector has recorded a marginal increase in profit.

The association’s General Secretary, Mr  Benson Tembo said that they are happy that so far tanker drivers have continued to comply with Ministry of Health guidelines on preventing the spread, contracting and transmitting the virus.

He disclosed that so far the association has not recorded any cases of the virus among tanker drivers and employers since the pandemic broke out.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tembo has disclosed the Petroleum Transportation sector has performed very well during this period of Coronavirus.

Mr. Tembo said that the sector has recorded an increase in profit during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

He said that Government has been supportive to the sector considering that tankers carry a very important commodity that any nation can’t do away with.

Mr. Tembo noted that government has been on hand to give members of the association maximum support so that they maintain their businesses.

Mr Tembo commended the government for ensuring that tanker drivers operate in a safe environment.
