THE Zambia National Senior Womens team have continued to enjoy a positive run as they move up in FIFA rankings and gain global recognition.

According to FAZFootball.com the Copper Queens have moved six rungs upwards to occupy 100th position.

According to the latest FIFA rankings released in Zurich, Zambia is ranked 12th in Africa with Nigeria displacing Cameroon at the top of the continent.

Nigeria is ranked 38th in the world with the indomitable lionesses of Cameroon in 53rd position while South Africa’s Banyana Banyana are in 51st slot.

The United States remains the top ranked team in the world.

Zambia has been making steady strides in the women brackets in the last few years with their monumental qualification to the 2020 Olympic Games setting them atop the continental band.

The Copper Queens grabbed the only automatic slot for a women team in Africa after having overcome a star studded Cameroon.

Zambia’s strides in the women game has seen some of the stars clinch deals in foreign leagues.

So far five players have signed for foreign teams with Rachael Nachula and Hellen Mubanga the latest after joined Zaragoza CFF in Spain.

The 25-year-old Copper Queens midfielder has become the country’s fourth female footballer to secure a move to Europe after second tier Spanish outfit Zaragoza CFF confirmed her acquisition from Red Arrows FC.

Other internationals are Barbara Banda (Shanghai FC, China), Rachael Kundananji and Misozi Zulu (BIIK Kazygurt, Kazakhstan).
