IN its continued crusade of disinfecting public places in the city, Lusaka City Council (LCC) has today disinfected City Market.
And the Council has cleared accumulated waste at Munyaule Market adjacent to City Market.
The disinfection of the market is aimed at preventing the spread of Coronavirus.
City Market and other major markets in the city record high influx of people hence the need for regular disinfections.
LCC reiterates the need for marketeers and members of the general public in Lusaka to continue observing public health guidelines against the spread of Coronavirus.
This is against the fact that the country has continued to record cases of Coronavirus and Lusaka is back again as a hot spot.
And the local authority has cleared the accumulated waste at Munyaule Market and has also cleaned Central Business District (CBD).
Keeping surroundings clean is paramount in preventing diseases.
Residents and traders should supplement the Council’s effort by subscribing to waste management companies for collection of waste and avoid dumping waste indiscriminately.
On Friday, the team was in Bauleni Compound collecting waste from the notorious illegal dump site in the area.
