Chongwe Man, 38 in dock for defiling own daughter, 15

A 38-year-old man of Chikoloma village in Chongwe has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old biological daughter.

Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the development in a statement made available to the Daily Nation. She stated that Chongwe police received a report of defilement in which a named male adult aged 56 years of Chikoloma village in Chieftainess Nkomeshya’schiefdom in Chongwe reported the matter on behalf of his granddaughter.

She said that the 38-year-old man is alleged to have had carnal knowledge of his 15-year-old daughter.

The incident is said to have occurred on 5th July around 19:00 hours in the stated village. The suspect has been arrested and is in custody awaiting appearance in court. Police have withheld the names of the concerned in order to protect the Juvenile victim.

Meanwhile, Chongwe police Victim Support Unit (VSU) in charge has described the incident as barbaric. Mr. Yamfwa Kashiba who featured on a Chongwe community radio program dubbed “the Zambia Centre for Communications Program (ZCCP) Kwathu program wondered how a man could defile his own daughter. He observed that such acts had the potential to cause mistrust among couples who have girl children.
