SIMON MUNTEMBA writes

A 26-YEAR-OLD Airtel mobile money agent identified as Mate Musowe of Chinunda compound in Chinsali has been shot and robbed K58,000 cash by criminals.

Muchinga Province deputy police commissioner Geoffrey Kaunda, who confirmed the shooting of Musowe which happened at the weekend, said he sustained bullet wounds in the pelvis and was admitted at Chinsali hospital.

Mr Kaunda said criminals managed to steal K58,000 from him.

He explained that Musowe was attacked right in front of his employer’s gate in Chinunda compound where he went to leave that day’s collections.

Mr. Kaunda warned that the criminals that their days were numbered as they would soon be brought to book.

“We regret that this has happened. However, the police will not just sit and watch this type of criminality happening in our province. All efforts are being made to ensure that the culprits are brought to book,” Mr. Kaunda said.

The Muchinga Province deputy police commissioner who urged business individuals to be alert further urged members of the public with any useful information about the criminals to tell the police in confidence.

“Furthermore, we would like to advise those involved in business and in the handling of huge sums of money to be cautious and seek police protection to avoid such unfortunate situations,” Mr. Kaunda said.
