A 26-YEAR-OLD Burundian National is on the verge of being deported or face jail time after failing to appear before an immigration office when he entered into Zambia.
Joseph Hachimaya appeared in the NakondeMagistrates Court charged with Failure to Appear before the nearest Immigration Officer contrary to the Immigration and Deportations Act of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Hachimaya, being a Burundian arrived in Zambia and failed to appear before the immigration.
The incident is said to have occurred on 11th July 2020 in Nakonde district.
When he appeared for plea before Magistrate LitungiLitungi, the accused person voluntarily admitted the charge against him.

Court: Do you admit or deny?
Hachimaya: I admit.
Court: Are you a Burundian National?
Hachimaya: Yes
Court: Did you arrive in Zambia on the 11th July 2020?
Hachimaya: Yes.
Court:Did you fail to appear before any Immigration Officer?
Hachimaya: Yes
Court: Court records a plea of guilty.
After entering a plea of guilty, the matter was adjourned to 24th July 2020 for Facts and possible sentencing.
Hachimaya was remanded in custody.
