A 14 years old boy identified his 52 years old Aunty in the Choma Fast Track Court for Gender Based Violence as the person who allegedly assaulted him over firewood.
In this matter Alice Muzyamba of Choma’s Mbole village is charged with Assault on a Child contrary to the Laws of Zambia.Allegations are that Muzyamba assaulted the juvenile and thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.The incident is said to have occured on 22 August 2019 when the two had an altercation over firewood which the victim was gathering in the bush.When the matter came up for trial before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the Juvenile testified that her Aunt came from nowhere and started loading the firewood he had gathered.When he inquired why she was doing such, she hit him with a stick on the left side of his ribs.He said, he rushed home to call his father who confronted the accused person but never beat her.But in cross examination by Counsel Melissa Mulubwa from Legal Aid Board the juvenile admitted that his Father was appearing before Court for Assaulting Muzyamba who was in bandages during trial in connection with the same matter.
