SOME Zesco customers in Livingstone have been using illegal activities in conserving their power units from depletion.
According to the company, some residents had been putting metallic cups and water bottles on top of their pre-paid meters to stop the units from depleting.
ZESCO Limited Company spokesperson, Henry Kapata, warned residents of stern actions against putting metallic cups and water bottles on top of their pre-pared meters in a quest to preserve their power units.
He said the practice was illegal and warned that culprits would be prosecuted.
Mr Kapata told the Sun in Livingstone that there was a growing trend in most households of destroying the pre-paid meters in order to avoid payment.
Mr Kapata said that if water spills into the meter, it could cause damage and the scourge was considered as vandalism on its property.
