AN 18-YEAR-OLD boy of Lusaka has been jailed for two years with simple imprisonmentby the Kalulushi Magistrates Court on three counts of sodomy
Appearing before the Kalulushi Magistrate Chrisanttos Chandi was a former Kalumbwa Boarding secondary school Grade Eleven pupil who was convicted for sexually abusing his three fellow male pupils in Lufwanyama.
ZANIS reports that facts presented before Court were that on the dates unknown but between July 1 and July 31 2018, the juvenile went to the hostel of the victims where he lured them to spend a night together.
However, the victims came to realize that they had abused by the culprit and when confronted he threatened them of making their life in school difficult as he was their prefect.
But the victims later disclosed the matter to school authorities who reported the case to police and had him arrested.
And when appeared before the court, the juvenile pleaded guilty to all the three counts charged against him.
Magistrate Chandi said following the juvenile’s on admission to the charge he was going to punish him accordingly to help transform him and become a better person in society.
In mitigation the juvenile who was accompanied by his mother pleaded for leniency as he was a first offender who did not realise that what he was doing could land him into problems.
However, the magistrate said after taking into consideration all what the convict had said, the juvenile needed to be redirected to the correctional facility which was the best place for reforming.
Magistrate Chandi proceed to slap a two-year jail term on the boy with effect from November 21, 2018.
