PLANS to amend the current Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) constitution which is said to be full of flaws, are progressing well, says president Kennedy Mubita.
Mubita said that his organisation was committed to establishing a constitution which would stand a test of time.
Speaking in an interview with the Sun sports Mubita said that the federation had identified, ZBF ethics commission chairman Joseph Chirwa a lawyer by profession, to help draft a constitution which would stand a test of time.
“We want a document which will stand the test of time, a document which will be owned by the people and not something which hinders people from contributing,
“We also want something which will protect the president’s office, people should have the right qualifications,” Mubita said.
Mubita said it was more the reason that ZBF settled for Chirwa who was the chairman of the ad-hoc committee which was set up to investigate constitutional flaws to do the work.
“Chirwa also chaired the ethics commission and he is a lawyer by profession so he will help us draft the needed new constitution,”
Meanwhile, ZBF has appointed Charles Kangwa as Under-20 national boxing team coach.
Mubita confirmed the development and said Kangwa would replace former Under-20 coach Jonathan Mwila who died last month after suffering from a short illness.
Kangwa would be assisted by Dennis Zimba while Nkwazi boxing club coach Maybin Gunduzani has been appointed national women boxing team assistant trainer.
Mubita said that Gunduzani would help national women boxing team head coach Aurial Banda who has been operating without an assistant.
