AS the 2019 transition league kicks off this weekend, six time league champions, New Zanaco Football Club, are more than geared to win back the trophy.
Club general manager Marlon Kananda strongly believes that his team would win the league title this year having bounced back stronger from its strip of poor performances last year.
“We are ready for the season and look forward to winning it,” Kananda told The Sun in an interview yesterday.
He said it was the ‘’bankers’ year and that Zanaco had come back to play competitively and win all league this season.
He predicted it would be a tough season though because of the restructured league which will see the teams playing fewer games and in six months.
‘It will be a tough six months but we will play each game like it’s our last game, he said.
He stated that the Club had identified the defence as its weakest link and had therefore decided to recruit some defenders as the coaches tried to shape up the striking force.
Kananda further said that the club would this Season also look to its fans for motivation.
“First of all, soccer fans always play an important part to a team. We need to attract as many soccer fans as possible,’’ said Kanada who identified Lusaka’s their main target for recruitment of fans.
He said that the club would make sure that soccer fans are provided with food and entertainment I order for them to be comfortable.
Zanaco open their 2019 transitional season this afternoon at Sunset Stadium with a Lusaka derby against Red Arrows
