A 36-YEAR-OLD woman has appeared in the Nakonde Magistrates Court accused of deserting her one-year-old son.
Winnie Kambole, a business woman of Mukoma Village is charged with child desertion contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that Kambole, being a guardian to a child unable to feed or maintain himself, willfully left him with no means of support.
The alleged incident happened on July 22, 2020 in Nakonde.
When the matter came up for plea before Resident Magistrate George Banda, Kambole disputed the charge against her.
Court: Have you understood the charge against you?
Kambole: Yes I have understood.
Court: How do you plead?
Kambole: I never dumped the child.
Court: I record a plea of not guilty.
