THERE is an increase in dumping of solid waste indiscriminately by wheelbarrow pushers in Kamwala ward five the area, councilor Moses Bwalya has said.
Mr Bwalya said the unlawful disposal of garbage by the wheelbarrow pushers had become rampant in the ward causing a serious health hazard to the residents of the ward.
The civic leader said the dumping of waste was worse at areas such as the newly constructed Bombay drainage, near the rail line and the ZESCO pylons.
He said in the last two years the trend had decreased but of late the ward had seen a slight increase in littering of the area.
Mr Bwalya said as a ward they had engaged the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to deploy six council police officers to the ward to deal with wheelbarrow pushers who dumped garbage anyhow including the drainage. He was hopeful that once the exercise b
