DESPITE losing out on scooping their first Super Division title following a 1-0 loss to Forest Rangers on Thursday, Napsa Stars have been praised for qualifying to the CAF confederation cup after securing a top four berth on the Zambian super league log.
Prior to Thursday’s crucial encounter against Rangers, Napsa Stars looked the favourites to bag a maiden title but unfortunately succumbed to 72 minute goal that gifted their opponents a crucial win.
But National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) Director General Yollard Kachinda praised the team for qualifying to CAF Confederations cup despite the loss and advised everyone to keep their heads high.
Kachinda called on the team to continue working hard and shift focus to preparation for the continental games as well as next season games.
The NAPSA Director General was speaking via teleconference during a dinner celebration hosted by the Club president Greg Nsofu in honour of the team at Garden Court Hotel in Kitwe.
And Nsofu said his Board was proud of the team for the feat after achieving its seasonal target of finishing in the top in four.
”We are happy and proud of you. The target was to finish in top four and you managed that. It would be selfish of us to complain that we did not win the league because we got carried away when we saw that we were so close to winning it. But overall, we are proud, let us pick up from here and contest for the title next season,” Nsofu said.
NAPSA made the cut for a maiden qualification to continental football after finishing fourth with 48 points from 27 games played.
