NATIONAL Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) director General, Yollard Kachinda, says his company will always support the efforts of the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in uplifting the health standards of Zambians.
Mr. Kachinda commended UTH on its innovation and constant progression to a stage where it is able handle complicated medical procedures without having to refer them abroad.
“We will always support you because we understand the significant role that you have played and still continue to play in providing medical services since your inception in 1979,” stated Mr. Kachinda.
The NAPSA chief was speaking when he handed over one thousand (1000) pairs of bed sheets and one thousand (1000) blankets, worth K512, 000) to the adults hospital at UTH.
“The chief medical superintendent, Dr Alex Mukupe, with his team, visited us at Napsa three weeks ago and outlined some of the challenges that the UTH is facing, such as shortage of key medical equipment in the emergency section and bed linen among other things,” he said.
Mr Kachinda observed that, “We made a quick decision to intervene through our corporate social responsibility programme and help the hospital because even as we speak some patients are sleeping on bare mattresses without beddings or blankets.”
He said the decision by his company to donate to UTH is based on the realization that access to health is not a privilege but a basic human right.
“We are committed to supporting sustainable community development by being a trusted partner that protects people’s future and brings pride to the nation,” he said.
“We believe that through such noble causes as this one, we are helping to improve the lives of the people,” stated Mr. Kachinda.
