POLICE in Zambezi district in North Western Province have picked up a body of a 54 year old man believed to have been axed to death.
Provincial commissioner of police, Hudson Namachila who confirmed the incident said the man was killed on February 11 around 14:00 hours near Chifwamakondo primary school.
Mr Namachila identified the deceased as David Njapau of Kambombi village.
The matter was reported to police by the man’s nephew Fredrick Mang’enda of Airport Compound who said his uncle was murdered by unknown persons.
“The body has multiple wounds on the head and neck inflicted by unknown persons and an axe could have been used in the killing. The criminals when found will be dealt with accordingly,” Mr Namachila said.
The commissioner further said a docket has been opened but no arrests had been yet made.
