LUKASHYA independent Member of Parliament (MP) Mwenya Munkonge has died.
Mr. Munkonge died yesterday, Saturday 18th July 2020, at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital (LMUTH) after a short illness.
And Northern Province Minister Chungu Bwalya has expressed sadness at the untimely death of Munkonge. Mr Bwalya said the death of Mr Munkonge is not only a loss to the people of Lukashya in Kasama District but to the Province as a whole.
The Provincial Minister has described Mr Munkonge as a gallant and dedicated lawmaker who put the welfare of his people first.
Mr Bwalya who is also Patriotic Front Northern Province Chairperson said the late Lukashya MP was a man who was committed to duty as evidenced by his exemplary work in the constituency.
He told ZANIS in an interview in Lupososhi District that Mr Munkonge was supportive of the ruling party and believed in the aspirations of the government.
He has since wished the bereaved family condolences and God’s strength during this trying moment.
The late Mr Munkonge was elected in 2016 as an independent Member of Parliament for Lukashya Constituency in
Kasama, Northern Province.
