THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has noted with concern the events surrounding the FAZ/MTN Week five fixture between Green Buffaloes and Nkana at Nkoloma Stadium.
“We are very disappointed with the scenes we witnessed at Nkoloma Stadium. We are going to deal sternly with the parties involved,” FAZ General Secre-tary Adrian Kashala has said.An unidentified soccer fan breached all security protocols to attack Nkana coach Manfred Chabinga triggering a fight back from the Nkana bench.Kashala added that that the incident is particularly saddening coming on the day fans made a return to the terraces after eight months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is according to a statement issued by FAZ Communications Manager Sydney Mungala.“We fought so hard to get fans back into the stadia and will not allow hooliganism ruin our desire to have spectators at stadia.”The FAZ General Secretary said the fan who breached security protocols will be found and handed to police for criminal trespass.Kashala said Green Buffaloes Football Club and Nkana Football Club will be summoned for possible sanctions over inadequate security and violent con-duct, respectively.“It may be too early to pre-empt disciplinary steps that will be taken but we expect both parties to furnish us with answers on the situation at Nkoloma Stadium,” he said.Green Buffaloes defeated Nkana 5-0 on Wednesday in a Week Five tie that marked the return spectators after Government gave the greenlight for fans to return.
“We urge clubs to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines so that the authorities do not suspend the waiver again. Fans should also be mindful that any in-discretions could attract a ban,” Kashala said.
