In a statement issued by FAZ Communications manager Sydney Mungala, Mathotho died on Friday after an illness.
“We are very saddened by the death of Mr Mathotho who was one of the most recognisable personalities in the game in Eastern Province. He served the game in various capacities and one of the people that the province relied on to grow the game,” Kashala said.
“Our appeal to the football family is to honour the memory of Mr Mathotho by ensuring that Chipata City Council and Eastern Province football continues to grow.”
The deceased served at Chipata City Council in various capacities including as general secretary from 2011 to 2014 before becoming a committee member from 2015 to 2016 and team manager from 2016 to 2018. He was admitted in Chipata Central Hospital and died on 26th June, 2020.
