THE inaugural Eden University National Division One championship has been competitive and the champion’s cheque is set to get bigger, Eden University Chief Executive Officer Kelvin Kaunda has said
Speaking in an interview after the crowning of the 2020 Eden League Champions, Kaunda assured fans that the sponsorship package for the 2020/21 is already on the cards with plans to see the Division One sponsorship running for the next five years.
“We have been impressed with the high level of competition shown by the teams and we promise to make the prize even sweeter in future,” Kaunda said.
Indeni FC finished top of the National League with 55 points after beating Zesco Malaiti Rangers by 2-0 courtesy of a brace from striker Graven Chitalu.
The champions walked away with a K125,000 while second placed Prison Leopards FC were handed a cheque worth K75,000.
In a Facebook post, Prison Leopards FC said: “We would also like to send our congratulatory message to all National League top-four finish teams for winning promotion to the Super League and all the teams that participated in the country’s second tier football for making it memorable.”
Eden University pumped in K1.1 million in the sponsorship deal for the 2020/ 21 Soccer league and looks set to sign a new deal for the 2021/2022 Soccer Season Calendar

1. Indeni Football Club – 55 points
2. Prison Leopards FC – 54 points
3. Young Green Eagles – 53 points
4. Kitwe United FC – 51 points
The 2019/2020 National League came to a premature close at 27 Weeks following the decision by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to end the season due to the escalating number of Covid-19 cases.
