A 22-YEAR-OLD man has told the Nakonde Magistrates Court how Drug Enforcement Commission officers electrocuted him with a Taser Gun in his house as they went to search for drugs.
Elias Chileshe told Resident Magistrate George Banda that around 01:00hrs, a combined team of DEC and Police Officers ransacked his house in search of Marijuana which he believed was planted in his house.
In this matter Chileshe is accused of trafficking in 5.8grammes of Marijuana a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.
The incident happened on 26th May 2020 in Nakonde district.
When the matter came up for continued trial before Court, DEC Assistant investigation Officer Manyando Sitenge testified on how a joined team of law officers recovered suspected marijuana in the accused’s house.
But in defence, Chileshe testified that when the officers entered his house, he never saw what they had in their pockets as he never had any drugs in the house.
He said, he allowed them to search the entire house and after showing him what they had found (cannabis) they shocked him with a Taser Gun before he was handcuffed.
He was later taken to Nakonde Police Station where he was finally charged and arrested following the positive results from the University Teaching Hospital Public Analyst report.
The matter will come up on 7 August for judgement.
