A CANTER Driver has been arraigned to the Choma Magistrates Court on allegations of causing death by reckless driving.
In this matter, Patrick Sikufele 32, of Choma’s Overspill Township is charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving contrary to the Road Traffic and Safety Act of the Laws of Zambia.Allegations are that Sikufele caused the death of Kenneth Simabange when he was driving a Canter Truck on a Public Road in a dangerous manner thereby endangering the lives of members of the public and other road users. The incident is said to have happened in Choma on 27 November, 2019 along the Great North Road. When he appeared for explanation of the charge before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, he understood the charge read to him.The Court then informed the accused person that the offence he is charged with is only triable in the High Court and such he will continue to appear before the Subordinates Court for mentions until instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are issued.
Sikufele will appear on 16 October for another mention as the Court awaits the instructions.
