A SUSPENDED Bupe ward councillor, Collins Chansa, has been implicated in the illegal allocation of land near the Presidential Lodge in Kitwe.
A Kitwe resident, Enock Silungwe, alleged that Mr Chansa working with some agents used to visit the community to survey the land in question.Mr Silungwe said this in his submission to the ad hoc committee appointed to investigate illegal and disorderly allocation of land in Kitwe which was currently sitting at the civic centre.He made the submission before Kitwe City Council Local Government administrator, Adam Jere, sitting with Copperbelt Commissioner of police, Charity Katanga, and Chief Lands Officer Harry Shamende.He alleged that Mr Chansa, who is also Patriotic Front (PF) Kamfinsa constituency chairman, together with a Mr Chisupa allocated him a plot and put up beacons.“I can submit before this tribunal that councillor Collins Chansa used to come with an agent only known as Chisupa to survey the land and put beacons for us at the land near the Presidential Lodge,” he said.And Lister Nambeye said the land in question used to be for gardening in the recent past but Mr Chansa promised the residents that once elected into office, he would ensure that they were given plots to help them settle.Ms Nambeye said she had paid K9, 500 in order to secure land in the area and appealed to the committee to help the community have the land legalized.
Others also submitted to the committee to help facilitate for letters offer.
