A Police Officer disputed the story of a 34-year-old Trade Kings employee who stated that her plastic containing over K45,000 money was swapped with another bag papers whilst she was in the bank.
This is in a case in which Martha Munachonga of Choma’s Zambia Compound stands charged with Theft by Servant Contrary to sections 272 and 275 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on 6th June 2019 in Choma, Munachonga being a Servant of Trade Kings Group of Companies Choma Branch allegedly stole K45, 572 Cash the property of her employer.
When the matter came up for for continuation of trial before the Choma Magistrates Court, Detective Chief Inspector Joseph Mambepa testified that he made up his mind to charge and arrest Munachonga with the offence after her story failed to add up.
This was after she told him that whilst at a named Bank when she went to make a deposit, two gentlemen approached her and swapped the plastics leaving her with one containing papers.
He said after going through all the Bank’s Security System he established that nothing of such nature occurred.
Resident Magistrate Richard Chikalanga adjourned the matter to 3rd August 2030 for continued trial after State Prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa made the application.
Munachonga’s police bond was extended.
