A 38-YEAR-OLD artist in Livingstone has been arrested in connection with the murder of a village headman.
Brian Sibajene is alleged to have killed 60-year-old Patrick Mapulanga, who is the headman of Siamatete village in Chief Mukuni’s area.Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo, said the headman was discovered dead on Thursday in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head and face.He was discovered in Muntumuswana village about one Kilometre away from his village.Ms Katongo said investigations were instituted into the matter and led to the apprehension of Sibajene, also of Chief Mukuni, an artist by profession.“According to preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly murdered the victim on suspicion that he had an intimate relationship with the suspects’ wife aged 35 who he was intending to reconcile with as they were on separation,” Ms Katongo said.She disclosed that a stick stained with blood suspected to have been used in the act was recovered.
“The suspect is in police custody charged with murder and will appear in court soon,” she said
