ANDREW MUKOMA writes
A NEW trend of abandoning dogs at grave yards has emerged in Livingstone, raising complaints from the local authority.
Some unknown persons have been tieing their dogs to trees and leave them for dead in the grave yards, perhaps after failing to look after the domestic animal.
The Livingstone City Council has expressed concern over the trend saying it is saddening and illegal.
Council Public Relations Manager, Melvin Mukela, who confirmed the development to the Daily Nation, said anyone found abandoning their dogs at the grave yard would face the law.
Mr Mukela said that the local authority was concerned with the growing trend by unknown people who were abandoning their dogs at the grave yard.
He said it is disheartening how some dogs were found tied to trees and deserted at the old cemetery by unknown people.
Mr Mukela said the act had compelled the council to organize a stakeholders meeting to chart the way forward.
