A-42-Year old wildlife scout of Chama district has been killed by an elephant in human animal conflict, Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has confirmed.
Mr Njase said the incident occurred on Thursday at 12:30 hours at East Musalangu Game Management Area Chama district.“Zozi Rodgers aged 39 years of Mundalanga wildlife camp of Chama district reported that while on duty controlling some elephants in a group of three wildlife scouts, one scout Emmanuel Zimba 42 years of Chitheba village in Chief Tembwe’s area was killed by a lone elephant,” he said.Mr Njase said the victim sustained fractured right leg, deep cuts on the right arm, broken ribs and cuts on the left arm.He said the body has since been deposited in Chama District Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
He said wildlife officers have launched a hunt for the beast in order to kill it.
