STANDARD Chartered Bank Zambia’s US$40 million new Head Office building is taking shape with the structure now over 90 percent complete despite works slowing down due to Covid-19.
Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Herman Kasekende, said construction works had to slow down in the first few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite this, he said in a statement, Standard Chartered Bank’s brand-new US$40 million Head Office building was taking good shape.
“This new Head Office not only adds to the beauty of Lusaka’s skyline, but is a key demonstration that Standard Chartered Bank remains firmly committed to Zambia, to our clients and to our communities. That is why we are very excited that it is taking such great shape,” Mr Kasekende said.
Mr Kasekende said this new investment of US$40 million had seen local business engagement in the construction, which has contributed to local job creation.
The investment, he said, also demonstrated that Standard Chartered remained firmly committed to Zambia’s economy, clients, and communities.
“Despite the 3-month break at the construction site due to the Covid-19 pandemic and adherence to social distancing measures, the bank’s US$40m building is on track to be completed by the last quarter of the year,” Mr Kasekende said.
