THE Lusaka magistrates court has jailed a man 24 months for stealing a bicycle worth K1,200.
George Mwanza, 22, of Chazanga appeared before magistrate Nsunge Chanda.
Mwanza stole a bicycle belonging to James Ndayisena on June 23 2020.
Facts were that the complainant was at his shop in Chazanga and had parked the bicycle outside.
Mwanza went into the shop and came out after 30 minutes without buying anything.
When the complainant went outside the shop, he discovered that the bicycle was missing.
He asked the people around if they had seen the person who stole his bicycle.
He then reported the matter to Chazanga police station.
Mwanza pleaded for mercy from the court saying he was sorry and will never steal again.
Magistrate Chanda said Mwanza deprived the complainant of a bicycle he bought with his hard earned money.
The court sentenced Mwanza to 24 months imprisonment.
