THE reinstatement of former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya back into the Confederation of African football (CAF) executive committee is a welcome development.
Speaking in an interview with the Sun Sports Mwenya said that the move by CAF must be commended for restoring Kalusha’s dignity after the soccer icon had his ban and sanctions reduced following an appeal against his two year ban slapped on him by FIFA last year.
Mwenya said the news of Kalusha’s reinstatement by CAF was a bigger football news to Zambia, adding that it would bring more unity to the football family in the nation.
“Fellow Zambians, there will be no bigger football news than this. I should thank CAF president Ahmad Ahmad for this great gift to Zambia. We shall not forget you sir. This will bring more unity to the football family in Zambia,” he said.
Mwenya said the reinstatement of Bwalya by CAF was good for unity and cohesion among members of the football family which he said has been witnessing some infighting .
A check by the Sun sport on the CAF website confirmed that the continental governing body CAF had indeed re-instated former Kalusha,
Bwalya, whose two-year ban from all football activities by FIFA was stopped recently, has already been listed on the CAF website as one of the executive committee members.
