THE idea of solar milling plants is a good initiative though was not implemented properly, National Union for Small Scale Farmers Zambia (NUSSFZ) general secretary, Frank Kayula, has said.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun in Lusaka, Dr. Kayula said the solar milling plants if installed properly mechanically, could help farmers in rural areas to easily generate income for themselves.
He appealed to the Zambia Corporative Federation (ZCF) to help train the people handling the installation of the solar mills in order to make them operate efficiently.
“Our members are complaining that the milling plants only work when there is sunlight. As a union for small scale farmers, we feel the concept is good but the functionality aspect is poor,” stated Dr. Kayula.
“Let’s see how we can improve on them,” he said.
