SALAULA business has gone down in Lusaka from the time vendors were removed from the street by Government, it has been learnt
According to one of the affected salaula traders, Josephine Mwenda, most of her fellow merchants have moved to selling in shops and that had contributed to loss of business as buyers had difficulties locating hem.
She further explained that the loss of business had affected the traders’ livelihoods as most of them survived on the same.
Ms Mwenda was speaking in an interview with the Sun in Lusaka yesterday.
“I have been making less profit every now and then and this has put me under pressure on how I will survive and take my children to school.
“When we were still on the street, I would make about K1, 000 from my daily sales but now I am down to K500,” she said.
Ms Mwenda emphasised that it was difficult for customers to spot salaula traders these days.
She has lost most of her customers from the time she was moved from the street.
