A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been arraigned to the Choma Magistrates Court on allegations of trafficking in over 60gms of Marijuana.
This is in a matter in which Fanos Kalonda appeared before Court with one count of trafficking in psychotropic substances contrary to the Psychotropic and Narcotics Drugs Act of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that Kalonda trafficked in 61.8gms of Marijuana a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.
The incident was said to have happened on 29th June 2020 in Chomadistrict.
When he appeared for plea before Senior Resident Magistrate IdahMupemo, the accused person disputed the allegations made against him .
Court: Have you understood the charge against you?
Kalonda: Yes.
Court: How do you plead?
Kalonda: Not guilty.
Court: I enter a plea of not guilty.
After recording a plea of not guilty, the Court adjourned the matter to 15th July 2020 for trial after State Prosecutor Alex Syulikwa made the application.
Kalonda was remanded in custody as the offence he is accused of committing is not bailable.
