RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianA Lusaka man has been jailed three years for breaking into a building and committing a felony.
Appearing at the Lusaka magistrates court before magistrate Nsunge Chanda was Shadreck Chusi accused of breaking into a building of Bornface Monga on October 23 2020.
Facts were that after work, Monga locked his building around 18:00 hours and left it secured. The following day in the morning, he went to his building. When he arrived, he noticed that the door had been tempered with and after checking, he realised that some one had broken in.The materials he kept in the building which he used for his work were stolen.Monga reported to the police and estimated the value of the missing items to be about K6,500.Chusi pleaded for mercy and leniency from the court saying that the prison conditions are bad and he regretted his actions. He asked the court to give him a second chance and that if jailed his family will suffer.Magistrate Chanda said she has observed with concern that people do not enjoy being free because they do not learn from others that commit offences and are jailed. She told Chusi that knowing fully well that what he was doing was an offence , he deserves to be sent to jail so that when he comes out he will never think of breaking into someone’s house again.
The court jailed Chusi three years imprisonment with hard labour.
