THREE former senior civic leaders in Livingstone are appearing in the Subordinate Court charged with 26 counts of corrupt practices.
The three are ex-Mayor Milford Mambo, Ziwa Malilo Ziw,a former Mosi o Tunya Ward Councillor and Chabala Chanda, the former Livingstone acting Town Clerk.
Allegations in the first two counts are that the trio in their capacities as civic leaders offered plots to council and Ministry of Lands officials as inducements for them to turn a blind eye on the illegal land allocations in Nottie Broddie and Highlands areas of Livingstone.
Mambo is facing four counts of corrupt acquisition of public property where he is accused of acquiring four plots in his capacity as Mayor and sold them for K160, 000 to Michael Sampa, Judith Kaputula among others.
Chanda is facing 14 counts of abuse of authority of office, where he allegedly issued out over 10 offer letters of plots without following laid down procedures.
Ziwa is accused of acquiring six plots in his capacity as a councillor and sold three for K53, 960 while keeping the rest to himself.
In other charges, Chanda is accused of forging council offer letters and purporting that they were issued by the Livingstone City Council when in fact not.
The three are being prosecuted by Anti Corruption Commission State Advocate Virginia Tembo will appear on September 10 for continued defence before Choma Senior Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo.
They are all on police bond.
